I bought this book for my 7th grader and ended up ordering one for me too! What a treat to have a talent like Barbara Slate guiding our creative musings. Lots of “Gee, why didn’t I think of that” moments in this insightful and inspiring book. Follow the trail markers and spend your energy letting your imagination soar, you will be surprised at the results.

A great guide for not only those interested in authoring a graphic novel but for those who pursue other forms of creative writing as well. I recommend it for kids and adults and would happily give it more than 5 stars if there were room for them all on the form!

This is a terrific inspirational guide. The knowledge and skill set conveyed is both fun and practical. It would be wonderful to use this book in an art class for kids. This is an art form applicable to an actual real world vocation.

Barbara Slate’s “You Can Do a Graphic Novel” is a visual treat–with rich, vibrant colors that span across the double page spread. It is a jewel of a book that deserves to be read and re-read and enjoyed as a work of art. Buy the book, not the Kindle version, which will limit you to a single screen page in black and white.
