Here is a bit about Actress Betty Grable
An iconic pinup photo: Grable’s bathing suit photo made her the number-one pin-up girl of the World War II era. Dancer, singer, and actress, Betty Grable was born Elizabeth Ruth Grable on Dec. 18, 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri. She died at the age of 56 on July 2, 1973.
Grable was known for having the most beautiful legs in Hollywood and her studio widely dispersed photos featuring them. Her legs made Betty “The Pin-up” for soldiers fighting in Europe and the Pacific during World War Two. So it is not surprising that Grable’s legs were insured by her studio for $1,000,000 with Lloyd’s of London. Betty Grable’s legs are ancient show biz history now, but people surveyed by Chiquita Bananas say they’re better than Madonna’s and were “quite possibly the world’s perfect legs.”
In 1943, she married trumpeter and big band leader Harry James. The couple had two daughters, Victoria and Jessica.
Fun Fact: Betty Grable is Cockney Rhyming Slang for Table!
Betty Grable often said that her personal favorite of all her films was Mother Wore Tights (1947), a nostalgic musical based on the true story of a married vaudeville team of the early 1900s, Frank and Myrtle Burt.
Another one of her movies was Footlight Serenade
Footlight Serenade is a 1942 musical comedy film directed by Gregory Ratoff, starring Betty Grable, John Payne, and Victor Mature.
