Here is an amazingly lifelike nude painting by Pál Fried (1893-1976). An Hungarian by birth, the painter first became a well-known artist in the early 20th century with art associated with portraits of high society Parisian women, ballerinas, Oriental and western scenes, as well as seascapes. Working mainly with oil and pastels, experimenting with light and movement in his work, Fried eventually moved to the United States. He became a US citizen in 1953 and traveled from New York west to Hollywood. In the city of angels, he painted many celebrities including the Gabor Sisters and Marilyn Monroe. See reference site: Tutt’Art
The artist signed his work in Hungarian, with his surname first as “Fried Pál”. At times, this particular artist would make several, almost identical versions of the same oil painting, except he would use slightly different facial expressions and/or would try different color schemes.
NO matter how much his styled change or didn’t change, the strength of his career remains in his ability to paint beauty. Whether clothed or naked, the women he placed onto his canvases demand to be looked at and pondered.
It is always a pleasure to find new artists for you to enjoy such as the work of Pál Fried.
