Witch Skull and other Witch Thoughts
It is how you tell the story: Popular media has often shown the witch to be an evil creature, intent on causing harm to many victims. However, since the later part of the 19th century, there has been a shift to portray witchcraft in a positive light. Witches such as those in Bewitched, Charmed, The Worst Witch, and of course Harry Potter amongst other have shown that the witch is a mystical and beautiful creature, who uses their powers to make the world a better place to live in. For the witch today, the popular culture has meant that witchcraft is not something to be feared, but rather a way of finding solutions or answers to problems that simply cannot be answered through other means.
It is not my fault the voter’s don’t like me: A number of political leaders, after losing elections in the recent past, filed poll petitions against their victorious rivals alleging use of witches’ oaths. In one court, a human skull was produced as an exhibit used as a magic spell to eliminate a family. By the way, a witchdoctor is not the same as a Witch or Wiccan! The prosecutor told the court: “The skull was used by the accused to eliminate unwanted families. When someone wants to eliminate a certain family, one goes to the witchdoctor who would shave his head, cover it with a white cloth and start uttering words while hitting the skull with a stick, and the family would start feeling the effects. If a person being bewitched was driving, he would start feeling dizzy, lose control and overturn the vehicle, killing himself and the passengers,” the court was told.
A witch to meet: Laurie Cabot is the “official witch of Salem” and modern times’ most famous witch alive today (in my opinion). She is also an author and a wise woman, owns her own witchcraft shop in Salem, and even records videos on her own youtube channel!
Add a little sex and… The Feri Tradition is a modern traditional witchcraft practice founded by Victor Henry Anderson and his wife Cora. It is an ecstatic tradition which places strong emphasis on sensual experience and awareness, including sexual mysticism, which is not limited to heterosexual expression.
Tolerance is my byword: Witchcraft is not evil. At least not any more than lighting a votive candle, praying for a sick friend, or carrying a lucky charm is. However, there are some who do view witchcraft as evil. This is only because organized religion (primarily the Christian church) has conditioned them to fear anything which strays from their narrow condemning view. After all, if you have the ability to fend for yourself, solve your own problems, and choose your own method of spiritual expression, why would you need the confined structure of a church? |
