By Request: Psychobilly/ Edgy Pin Up Hairstyle
March 16th, 2011 by Aldouspi

This look is based on the lovely look sported by pin up model, Micheline…as seen in the opening portion of the video. It is an extreme version of a traditional 1940’s pin up hairstyle and is pretty popular among the Psychobilly girls. As I mention in the intro, this look is MUCH more effective with extensions and I am including, not only the links to the makeup looks that inspired me, but also monrOEmisfitmakeup’s tutorial for creating your own hair extensions. Enjoy! Goldiestarling’s Psychobilly/Extreme Pin Up makeup www.youtube.com (thanks doll, for this great look! I wish you could have seen it better in my video. I’d love to know what kind of lighting/camera you use that makes your makeup stand out so beautifully) Letzmakeup’s aqua/blue eye look: www.youtube.com Monroemisfitmakeup’s hair extension tutorial: www.youtube.com

I can’t seem to get my hot rollers to work well enough in my hair, I just got them so I kinda need practice, but is there any advice you could give me? I love this style but I just have a really hard time curling my hair and putting it up like in this video.

@pookinapooky If you made a list of the things that put us ‘at risk of cancer’, life would be very dull indeed. 🙂 That said, I do not believe that using hairspray could be viewed as dangerous unless you use an extremely large amount or you have no ventilation when using it.

    hello,

i love your videos and always look forward to new ones. I was wondering though, is it safe to use hairspray everyday??? I read somewhere it puts you at risk for cancer along with hair dye too

@jujidancer Sure. You can use a curling iron if you have one. You do need some curls in there though, to give the hair volume. Unless your hair is naturally curly, of course.

@bear62able You’ll need to send me a picture of the look you’re after then. As long as I’ve been familiar w/ the look, this is what was being discussed…this is an amped up version but the technique is the same. I’ll be happy to attempt any style you like.

@LisaFreemontStreet well they don’t look like it

@memphismom74 No they don’t get any more yucky that if you spray the sections ahead of time. Plus, they’re easy to clean if you don’t get the kind that are flcked in velvet. Dry Shampoo does add volume but also tends to look chalky and white if you add heat on top of it. 🙂 Depends on the brand, I guess.

Im always afraid to spray my hair when they are in the rollers. Don’t the rollers get yucky? Also I have fine hair and have heard of people using dry shampoo to add volume before styling…have you ever tried this? Your videos are awesome and Im glad I discovered them. 🙂
