Where in the Grid is Olivia Wilde?, April 5, 2011

It took two purchases to get a figure that was intact but thanks to The Disney Store’s top-notch guest services, I can finally review the whole figure.

As you can guess from the title of the review, I’m disappointed Olivia Wilde’s portrait wasn’t underneath a removable helmet. I can only guess that someone didn’t sign off on her likeness rights so we’re stuck with this instead.

The neck joint was stuck on the first figure I purchased and when I tried to turn the head, the weak plastic broke and the noggin popped right off. Mindful of this material flaw, I was extra careful with the second figure and managed to get the head to turn as it should. The same cannot be said for the left wrist which is currently stuck in a “Got some spare change?” pose until I can figure out a solution for that. Suffice to say that if an adult collector is having this kind of trouble with breakage, I imagine consumers of the lowest recommended age would go through this figure in seconds.

The light-up feature is an appropriate gimmick but it makes the torso bulky. I’d have preferred the electronics to be replaced by a fluorescent paint app that glows under black-light conditions. (See Jakks Pacifics’ Pirates of the Caribbean figures.)

The articulation is decent enough though the hard plastic skirt gets in the way of the hip joints a bit. You can still achieve some dynamic poses though which is paramount for a character like Quorra. The accessories are character specific and work with the figure. I had no problem getting her to hold her sword and disc, a small feat that cannot be taken for granted with too many toy lines. The display base is a welcome addition and I love the design. I just wish she could store her disc on her back as depicted in the movie.

Overall this isn’t a bad figure, it simply lacks the proper materials to make it as durable as a toy should be. The light-up feature works but certainly wasn’t worth the $9.99 retail and the absence of the actresses likeness lost points from me.

I wish I hadn’t spent the money on this “action figure”. It broke about 5 minutes after my 6 year old unwrapped it.

    Greatings Program.
Quorra is an ISO or rather the last one on the Grid after Clu2 purged the ISO’s from the Grid. When Kevin Flynn rescued her after the events of Tron Evolution she has become something like a daughter or trustee to him. She’s smart, resourceful and tough. She also saves Kevin Flynn’s son Sam from Clu2 during a Light Cycle match. The figure comes with a Katana, an I.D.Disk, Stand and glows with a nice ice blue color. She pilots the Light Runner Tron vehicle. End of Line…
