Couple of Thoughts on Animation Art

Today, it is possible for animation artists to pickup the skills of their trade without going to a special school to study animation. There are numerous great books that teach animation techniques such as Richard William’s The Animator’s Survival Kit. By following the instructions in these books, you can conceivably teach yourself the nuts and bolts of animated film making. Taking the home instruction idea even one step further, some books are now equipped with CDs and DVDs.

In a typical animation career you wear many hats. You may have a specific expertise, but chances are that just as often, you’ll juggle many skills and titles from job to job. Animation artists find most of their work via word of mouth. No offense to agents, reps, and recruiters, but to succeed in finding work in the business of animation is to develop and maintain relationships. We are, as Barbra Streisand sang it, “people who need people.”

Gigi Fair at Dean Martin’s Pool in Sunny Las Vegas! – Boudoir Louisville
Apr 22nd, 2015 by Aldouspi

A few weeks ago, we booked Dean Martin’s first Las Vegas home and shot a ton of lovely pinup girls. The house had a lovely swimming pool and garden area that backed up to a golf coarse. Really made for some great pics. Gigi Fair was great to shoot with. Turns out, she lives pretty close to us, so be sure to watch for more pinup fun with this girl.

For all of you photo nerds, the pics below were all shot in the super harsh mid day sun of Las Vegas. I used three Profoto B1 strobes to provide directional light and shadows. Camera shutter speeds around 8000th of a second at F2.8, ISO200. Yes, you read that correctly!

ENJOY!
