It is is hard to imagine American style pin-ups with out including the artwork of Elvgren. Gil Elvgren was painted pin-up girls for advertisements and magazine illustrations, as well as for calendars. The calendar work was mostly for the publisher Brown & Bigelow. An imaginative crafter of the female form, Elvgren honed his artistic education at the American Academy of Art.
