“The beauty of the female form is a timeless subject that will always captivate the viewer.” – Earl Moran.

There is no doubt that the subject of art in this post is a timeless subject – Marilyn Monroe!

Earl Moran was an American pin-up and glamour artist, His work appeared in magazines like Esquire, Cosmopolitan, and Life, where his illustrations featured voluptuous and glamorous women in playful poses and provocative outfits. In the late 1940’s, Moran continued creating pinup art from models including a young Marilyn Monroe. In the work below, a tastefully, nude Marilyn is seated on an orange cushion.

Five Prostitutes by Pablo Picasso
Mar 15th, 2023 by Aldouspi

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso.

This post features a very famous piece of art: “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” (“The Young Ladies of Avignon”) which was created by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso in 1907. It is considered one of the most important works of art of the 20th century.

The painting depicts five nude female prostitutes from a brothel in Barcelona. The figures are depicted in a fragmented and angular style, which was a departure from the traditional forms of painting at the time. The painting is notable for its use of sharp, jagged lines and the use of a limited color palette, which added to its sense of intensity and rawness.

The painting was met with shock and confusion when it was first exhibited in Paris in 1916. But soon it became recognized as a seminal work in the development of modern art. It is considered a key example of the Cubist movement, which Picasso co-founded with Georges Braque.

The original painting now hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The masterpiece is considered one of the museum’s most prized possessions.
