Famous Bronze StatuesArtemisium is a cape north of Euboea, Greece. The legendary hollow cast bronze statue of Zeus, or possibly Poseidon, known as the Artemision Bronze was found off this cape in a sunken ship, as was the Jockey of Artemision, a bronze statue of a racehorse and its jockey.
Donatello’s bronze statue of David (circa 1440s) is famous as the first unsupported standing work of bronze cast during the Renaissance, and the first freestanding nude male sculpture made since antiquity. It depicts David with an enigmatic smile, posed with his foot on Goliath’s severed head just after defeating the giant. The youth is completely naked, apart from a laurel-topped hat and boots, bearing the sword of Goliath.

‘Alexander Hamilton 1757-1804’ is a slightly larger-than-life cast bronze statue of one of America’s Founding Fathers. A graduate of King’s College (now Columbia University) in New York, Hamilton went on to become an economist, political theorist, Constitutional lawyer, artillery captain, aide to George Washington, member of the Continental Congress, author of the Federalist Papers, and the nation’s first Secretary of the Treasury.
