A Bit About Goth

Many fashion experts believe the roots of the contemporary Gothic clothing are found in the Victorian cult of mourning. Gothic fashion can easily be recognized by its stark black clothing (or hair or makeup). This style emerged alongside the Gothic rock scene in the 1980s. Gothic styles are also characterized by deathly pallor, back-combed or black hair, ruffled Regency shirts, stovepipe hats, leather garments, spiked dog collars, the ensemble accessories with religious, magical or macabre jewelry (bone earrings, rosaries, pentacles, ankhs, skulls), typically made from silver etc.

Other experts suggest the Gothic style was a response against the slick fashions of the 1970’s and a protest against the colorful pastels and extravagance of the 1980’s. Black hair, dark clothing and pale complexions give the basic look of the Goth Dresser. However, Gothic clothing shouldn’t be misconstrued with heavy metal fashion. Gothic style is a blend of modern and traditional designs.

Gothic dresses and Gothic fashion clothes make women seem more attractive, powerful, mysterious, bewitching and desirable. There is a wide selection of Gothic dresses, long or short ones. It is a common sense that Goth women are very sensual in those stylish dresses. Stockings are cool Gothic clothing; they come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors. Most of the Gothic people wear them on their legs while swearing a short Gothic skirt.

Gothic fashion also utilizes several symbols. You’ll find a great deal of Gothic symbols for instance: angels, the Pentagram, the ankh, skulls, and the grim reaper.

Another influence of the Gothic style is the high and late medieval era. The style evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture. Consider a romantic grim reaper as your model…

Whether it’s goth make-up for boys or girls, the lips are painted in shades of red. Start the Lip Make-up with a lip liner that is a shade darker than the lipstick color. Next, fill in the lipstick with a brush. The preferred lipstick color in Gothic makeup are blood red, burgundy and claret.
