Black Canary is a fictional super heroine in comic books published by DC Comics. Originally a Golden Age comic character, she was revived during the 1960s, and lives on the parallel world of Earth-2 (home of DC’s Golden Age versions of its characters). In a later version, the contemporary Black Canary is revealed to be the daughter of the original Black Canary. But as with many Comic heroes – there are many versions of the crime fighting female.

Basically, Black Canary is a superhero vigilante who fights crime using martial arts and a sonic scream attack. The high pitched sonic scream she emits is strong enough to shatter objects as tough as steel and even kill a person. But generally the subsonic scream which generates a sound wave that just disintegrates arrows, shatters glass and knocks people unconscious.

Which do you prefer? A black Canary that has involvement with such heroes as Green Arrow or Batman or a Black Canary that is as an independent character acting like a solo character again like she did in the golden age?

In the comic books, you might find Black Canary working in Gotham City with Huntress under the guidance of Batgirl as a main agent of the Birds of Prey, a team of female superheroes which has also included Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Katana, and even Poison Ivy. You can also see this heroine on live action TV as in “Arrow,” where she is played by actress Katie Cassidy, as well as in animated series such as the “Young Justice” cartoon where Black Canary often serves as a den-mother to the Young Justice team. The character maybe coming to the big screen, in a movie, as soon as 2017.
