Artist Luis Falero

Here is one of my favorite paintings by Luis Ricardo Falero. Falero was Spanish artist who dies in 1896. But in his 45-year life span, he created some of the best nudes of the 19th century. Besides participating in the wave of “Orientalism” that swept the European art world while he was painting, Falero also created nudes featuring mythological themes.

Painted in the 1890’s, the title of this painting is “Eastern Beauty.” It shows a lovely woman, whose loose blouse reveals her bosom. The bangles in her hair reflect an Eastern fashion. The beautiful woman in the painting was a model Falero used in many of his paintings.
