Glam Pin-up 50s Dita Von Teese inspired Makeup
January 31st, 2011 by Aldouspi

This is based loosely on Dita Von Teese, but toned down a bit, great for everyday wear if you are into the pin-up rockabilly look. This is a style based on Armstrong’s print called ‘adorable’. It requires an overnight set on damp hair using sponge rollers or pillow rollers. You’ll want to use more rollers for the tighter curls; just keep in mind that the more hair you put per roller, the softer the curl will be. Also, this style is meant for layered hair. If you hair isnt layered, the look will be quite different and won’t really have the look of the print. Don’t forget to rate and subscribe!

Nope, not nearly enough information about how to do the shadow…I had much better luck just white on the bottom lid, soft brown on fold, then normal liner – simple.

@pupukitty try placing a concealer on the area around or even on your lips and then powdering around it before putting on the lipstick. If it still causes problems try a tinted concealer in green.

Loving this look, but I have a problem with red lipstick! No matter what shade of red I try, the outside of my mouth area looks pink as soon as I put it on. Why is this? I’m super fair skinned with reddish hair. 🙁 What should I do???

@dollydesii sponge and pillow rollers are much easier to sleep in than the type you are currently using. Go to ebay and type in ‘pillow rollers’ You’ll see a wide variety of options to buy. Also, make sure to check out my video ‘Roll With Me’ which discusses the pros and cons of several different types of rollers.

  • dollydesii writes:
    February 1st, 20115:32 amat

quick question.. i havent been curlin gmy hair lately because the iron doesnt work as well and i have those plastic rollers and as missmcc87 said, they are very annoying to sleep in :[ in the beginning of the video you mentioned pillow rollers? i saw a video once and the lady was saying she made her own. im not sure if their the same ones your talking about but id really love to curl my hair like this. do you know anything about that?

  • LisaFreemontStreet writes:
    February 1st, 20115:47 amat

@MissMcc87 most cold sets cause some frizz…some more than others. Probably you need to keep brushing. The more you brush, the less frizz will be apparent.

  • MissMcc87 writes:
    February 1st, 20116:32 amat

I usually use wire rollers (the kind with the plastic net sleeve ever them), but sleeping in them is annoying and sometimes I really don’t have the time to sit under my bonnet dryer. However, I find that foam and pillow rollers make my hair frizzy. Is it getting frizzy because I am rolling my hair wet instead of damp?

Yeah, I didnt think the singing voice was actually the actress…very different tone. Thanks for the info!

  • KristenKelly13 writes:

In the movie, the character Linda sings that song and is played by Nancy Kwan. The singing for her part though was done by BJ Baker.

  • LisaFreemontStreet writes:
    February 1st, 20119:45 amat

Actually, I’m not sure of her name. It’s the movie version of the song. The movie is Flower Drum Song.

  • dennilane writes:
