“How to Draw & Paint Pin-ups & Glamour Girls: Step-by-step art instruction …”

There is nothing in this book that tells you how to draw anything. I couldn’t believe how little this book provided in the way of instruction. I skimmed through this book after I purchased it, and almost every page had examples of a complete work, with no step by step for anything.

Go ahead and look at the preview of the book, not one page gives detail direction for anything. One page may have a model in a bathing suit, and the page says, “and this is how you draw a model in a bathing suit” and its just the picture?!

I would suggest purchasing the Jack Hamm books. They are much older, but they are exactly what one would consider a step by step art instruction.

thanks to amazon for letting me return this book. its not worth the paper its printed on.

We all have opinions, but I feel that the one star review rater may not have the experience when it comes to drawing the figure. I will admit that there are not many constructional references, but they do exist if you look. Yes, there are more finished drawings than sketches, but that does not mean this book is completely useless, cause it does provide a visual reference. If you have already dealt with or had figurative drawing, you will see it as guide more than a how to . If you have not had at least one type of figurative course this book would be on more of an advanced level.
I would suggest “Bridgman’s Complete Guide to Drawing from Life”, or “Andrew Loomis”, those are great for anyone at any level, and then come back to this book. But don’t sell your self short, for this is good “reference” type material for the price, thought it seams to have become more pricey than it was the previous days..I have yet to use every bit of information from any drawing book in my library. Simply pick out information that you feel is important to what ever type of work your doing.

I am getting into the pin-up scene. It fascinates me to learn how artist created skin and those fabulous gradations. Though thin this book packs a lot of information to use.
