This is the second post dedicated to the wildlife project commissioned by Avid Design for Exmoor White Horse Inn. This time I would like to show you the drawing of a wild goose.

Avid Design specializes in interior design and it’s no wonder that the guys from Avid Design asked me to create pencil drawings of five animals to be printed on window panes at Exmoor White Horse Inn. The hotel is situated in the area which boasts wonderful nature and wildlife attractions. I believe that my drawings featuring a trout, a wild goose, a pheasant, a deer and a horse will be nice decoration elements for the inn. The wild goose is truly a great representative of fauna. This beautiful bird makes every hunter’s heart palpitate with anxiety and fills the soul of every nature admirer with admiration of God’s creation of the wonders of nature. I hope my drawings will create the atmosphere which will be appealing for both people passionate with hunting and those who love peacefully contemplating the beauty of nature.

About Wild Geese


The Canada Goose is a wild goose that is very common in Canada. The feathers of the Canada goose are brownish black, except on the stomach and the neck where they are white. In Canada and in the U.S.A., these birds can be observed in the fall and in the spring during their migration. They migrate to warmer regions of the United States. The geese fly, as a group, in a very recognizable “V” formation.

In the formation, the geese at the front protect the ones that follow who have to spend less effort to fly because they take advantage of the turbulence created by the wings of the birds in the front. When the first ones are tired they go behind to rest while others take their place. The geese at the back of the formation “honk” to encourage the rest of the formation to maintain their speed.

A Canada goose weighs between 2 and 8 kilos (5 to 18 pounds). It can reach 2 meters (6 feet) of wing span. The life span of a goose in the wild is about 23 years. In captivity, it can reach 42 years of age. The geese feed on water plants, grains and grasses.

Wild goose, not the animal: Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 774 (HMM-77is a United States Marine Corps medium helicopter squadron consisting of CH-46E Sea Knight transport helicopters. The squadron, known as the “Wild Goose”, is a United States Marine Corps Reserve unit based at Naval Station Norfolk (Chambers Field), Virginia and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 49 (MAG-4and the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing (4th MAW).
