Mad Hatter Pin-ups

Modavia Fashion Week 2011 is currently going on within SL and I manage to attend some of the shows and early press releases which was a thrill to be at. Sasy Scarborough has some wonderful coverage of the event for those who might not have caught it in world.

This has been my first Modavia experience cause I’ve never really been able to sit through a fashion show without crashing terribly — however this time round I seem to have no trouble with lag or crashes whatsoever. That might be attributed to the awesome new Firestorm Beta (3.0) Mesh Viewer which has made me take back my “Meshes are contributing to my unstable sl experience” statement. In fact, with this viewer, I have experienced significantly less crashes. I rez and load faster than ever, EVEN with mesh. This is just astounding and I’m completely utterly in love. This viewer has allowed me to experience some mesh items without cursing and swearing at the lag. I recommend any of you who are tempted to try out mesh to download this viewer. Ever since Emerald, this might have been the most stable viewer for me thus far.

Now back to fashion, I decided to take some items from the Designers who showcased on day one of the Modavia Fashion Week event. Mainly highlighting the gorgeous accessories and fashion of LaGyo/LG Concept. The hats and gloves from all 3 looks come from LaGyo/LG Concept‘s Fall showcase and I must say they are the most lustful item to be throughout the entire first day. Gosh… I mentioned before that Gyorgyna Larnia is the mistress of accessories and I still stand by that statement. The hats are so well sculpted and interesting, thus the title — except this time round the genius is attributed to Gyorgyna’s craft. I love the interesting gloves that she released as well. If you guys are thinking of getting these items, they are currently on the Modavia sim so tp over and have a HUGE shopping spree!

The 3 looks are all rather insane and crazy, but I had so much fun doing it. It has been a while since I did crazy couture mixed with casual wear so this is my small experimentation with it. Hope you guys enjoy these 3 mad hatters getting ready for the day.

ONE

The Mad Hatter's Genius THREE

The first look features LaGyo‘s Zarema Gloves and Inga Hat, two items which I saw on the runway and immediately shouted “must have!”. They’re both so terribly inspiring to anyone who loves the art. I also wanted to wear this Dorota Cape which comes from LaGyo’s collection as well. I’ve been seeing transparent maxi skirts as a trend in RL but I always find people who wear them strutting around are either out of their minds or just didn’t realize that half their booties are falling out. However, in SL one can be brave and sport this trend without giving a too skanky impression. In order to achieve this effect I had to mod Mon Tissu‘s maxi dress transparency a little, give it a shot to turn some inventory items in a new and refreshing way.

The second look to me reminds me of a Madhatter, White Rabbit love child. Ok that sounds completely wrong, but it’s the best way I can describe it. I wanted to wear this Elizaveta Hat desperately in a look and I just had to somehow make it work. I’m sporting fashionably dead‘s Collabor88‘s Ghost Wheat Dress — the holes of the dress are some awesomely made tga channels, but that also means your privates will be showing themselves off to the world. I layered it above another tight dress from epoque to achieve this affect. The coat and awesome necklace comes from CHANTKARE‘s offering for Modavia, they too showcased their items on the first day. I love the necklace for its quirky yet elegant element. Overall, i’ve been hopping about in this look for the entire day now, it’s a lot of fun and randomness piled up together.

Finally, the last one is rather sombre and mixed with a little bit of menswear. I felt it reminded me of the Olsen twins in some odd morbid way… If you realize the gloves in this look is another version of the one I had in my 2nd look. These gloves are some of my favorite pieces from LaGyo‘s collection and I hope it comes in more colors in the future! The entire top/jacket area comes from GizzA who showcased tons of amazing menswear. I really like mixing mens items from the grid cause it really does give one a little more edge. I had to alpha out my chest area to make the jacket fit though since it’s made for mens. However the resizing script made it extremely easy to mod. The long voluminous Nomad skirt comes from League, which comes in a myriad range of solids and patterns — if you’re a fan of boho looks, League’s recent items would definitely drive you insane with lust. The Oscar hair from LeLutka has been popping up around the feeds lately, it’s really interesting and frizzy curly hair isn’t easy to do well, but thora’s genius magic truly makes this work. I had to mod it a lot to fit the hat though! Just a note.

The Mad Hatter's Genius

So bye for now, i’m excited to see what’s going on in Day 2 of Modavia — so check it out whenever you have time!
