She stood at the top of the stairs, basically nude – dressed only in a pair of scanty panties – and not the kind of cotton underwear you get a Target, but that fancy stuff from the specialty shops. She was as solid and statuesque as the Statue of Liberty.

I was glad that it was me she was welcoming. And as battered and as weary as I was, I felt my energy and spirits rising as I gazed upon her. And thoughts of adventure and renewal came to me as I took in her beauty…

Pin-up art of scantily clad blonds, brunettes and redheads was a staple of the cover of Detective pulp magazines. While that cover art rarely, if ever, showed a woman so nude as the one pictured here – those beautiful dames on the magazines still stirred the imagination.
