Nude Woman Bather in Reeds and Stream

Here is an intriguing piece of fine art painting by Félix Vallotton. Vallotton, a Swiss/French painter and print maker, did all kinds of artwork – woodcuts, drawings and paintings. This last area of work includes a fascinating series of different nude women. I am happy to show one such example below of a woman sitting while she baths in a pebbled filled stream. Behind in black is a background of reeds. The color scheme of yellow and orange is a departure from the more realistic tones Vallotton normally used.

    American artist Arthur Sarnoff was born in 1912 in Brooklyn, New York. Before working as an illustrator, Sarnoff studied at the Industrial School and the Grand Central School of Art in New York City. He was a member of the Society of Illustrators and exhibited widely including the National Academy of Design. His body of work includes extensive commercial art for weekly magazines and his output appeared in a many advertising campaigns for such products as Karo Syrup, Dextrose, Lucky Strike, Coors, etc.
